Pranayama (Breath Control)

Practices in essential breathing techniques to master energy control and calmness of the mind Techniques on how to introduce pranayama into life and teaching

Pranayama includes several exercises that regulate and govern the intake and discharge of breath. It is believed that it influences the flow of prana in the body. Among the simplest exercises of pranayama are Nadi Shodhana or Alternate Nostril Breathing calms the nervous system Kapalbhati or Skull Shining Breath purifies and refreshes both the body and the mind. Ujjayi or Victorious Breath is a sound that, while inhaling an air, produces an easy resonance.

Mudra (Gestures or Seals) Mudras are symbolic hand gestures or body positions that facilitate the flow of energy within the body and mind. Some of them are: Gyan Mudra (Knowledge Mudra): Touching the tip of the thumb by the tip of the index finger. It is helpful in relaxing the mind and increasing focus. Anjali Mudra (Prayer Position): Fold the hands together and bring them into a prayer position to achieve balance and peace. Prana Mudra: Touch the tip of the thumb with ring and little fingers to energize and open up the flow of energy.

Bandhas (Body Locks) Bandhas are the physical locks or contractions that control the flow of energy in the body. There are three major bandhas: Mula Bandha or Root Lock: The constricting of the pelvis muscles, the energy in grounded. Uddiyana Bandha or Abdominal Lock: This draws the navel back and upwards to activate energy flow of the digestive system. It is a posture of bringing the chin to the chest, thus balancing the flow of prana and calms down the mind. It is Throat Lock, Jalandhara Bandha.

As a Yoga teacher, one must know the art of creating new sequences based on the theme of Vinyasa flow. This is also trained and tested as the students have to give classes to fellow students during the last week which will test their creative as well as teaching skills

In the alignment and adjustment class, we train our students by providing all the possible variations for beginners and less flexible students. This is where as a teacher you will have real learning opportunities.

We ensure each and every posture name is explained and put it in practise so the students remember them by the end of the course
