Is 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Enough to Become a Yoga Teacher?

A 100-hour yoga teacher training in Goa provides a foundation in yoga practice, philosophy, pranayama and basic teaching techniques. However, it is not equivalent to a complete 200-hour yoga teacher training qualification. If your goal is to pursue Yoga Alliance RYT 200 registration, you need to complete the required registered 200-hour programme. Learn more about how to register with Yoga Alliance.

Can You Join a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Without Experience?

Yes! Beginners can join a 200-hour yoga teacher training even without previous teaching experience. You should have an interest in yoga, a willingness to learn and dedication to daily practice. The programme gradually introduces asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy and teaching methodology.

How Many Days Does It Take to Complete 100 vs 200 Hour YTT?

The duration depends on the school’s training schedule. At Diksha Yoga School, our 100-hour yoga teacher training takes 11 days (10 nights), while the 200-hour programme takes 23 days (22 nights). Both programmes include practical sessions, yoga philosophy and traditional learning experiences. You can check the latest yoga teacher training dates and fees before choosing your course.

The certificate: what each one lets you do

This is the biggest difference between the two courses.

  • 100 hour: you receive a 100-hour certificate of completion. Yoga Alliance registers teachers from 200 hours, so a 100 hour certificate alone doesn’t make you an RYT. It does count toward our 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa.
  • 200-hour: You complete the full 200-hour teacher training programme at our Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200). After successfully completing the programme, you can apply to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200, subject to its registration requirements.
