- Your chosen room at Green Serene Villa, Galle
- 3 sattvic vegetarian meals a day

- Training at a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 & RYS 300), so you’re eligible to register as RYT 200

- Local excursions
- Maximum 10 students per batch

Worked out per day, the triple-shared fee is about €87 a day for teaching, a room and three meals. That’s the number to compare when you look at other schools.
How payment works
- A 30% deposit reserves your place: €600 triple-shared, €750 twin-shared, €960 private.
- The balance is due 15 days before the course starts.
- You can pay by bank transfer, card, PayPal, Wise or cash.
- The deposit is non-refundable. If you can’t attend, you can move to another batch if you tell us at least 30 days before your start date.
What do other 200 hour YTTs in Sri Lanka cost?
Residential 200 hour courses in Sri Lanka usually cost more than similar courses in India, mostly because of higher accommodation and food costs on the south coast. On listing sites for late 2026 you’ll find trainings in Ahangama, Hikkaduwa, Ahungalla and Kalpitiya; one 22-day Vinyasa and Yin course in Ahangama, for example, is listed at about US$3,100 with two meals a day.
| Price band (approx.) | What you usually get |
| Under €2,200 | Shared rooms, simpler villas, sometimes fewer meals included |
| €2,200 – €3,200 | Small groups, twin or private rooms, most meals, Yoga Alliance RYS |
| Over €3,200 | Boutique or luxury resorts, specialist styles, well-known lead trainers |
What drives the price
- Group size. A batch of 10 costs more per student than a batch of 30, but you get far more feedback on your teaching.
- Room type. At Diksha, twin-shared adds €500 and private adds €1,200 over triple-shared.
- Meals. Two meals a day versus three can make a €150–€300 difference over a month.
- Transfers. Colombo airport is 2.5–3.5 hours from the south coast, so a private transfer can cost more than people expect if it isn’t included.
- Venue. Beachfront resorts in Weligama or Ahangama cost more than a quieter villa near Galle.
Tip: compare the total cost for the month, not the headline fee. A cheaper course with two meals and no airport transfer can end up costing more than an all-inclusive one.
Accommodation: triple, twin or private room?
At Diksha, accommodation is already in the course fee, so the only choice is room type. Over the full 22 nights, twin-shared costs €500 more than triple-shared (about €23 a night), and private costs €1,200 more (about €55 a night).
| Room | Course fee | Best for |
| Triple-shared | €2,000 | Lowest cost and a sociable, group feel |
| Twin-shared | €2,500 | A balance of value and quiet; good for friends training together |
| Private | €3,200 | Light sleepers, extra study time, or a partner who isn’t training |

If you choose a school where accommodation is not included, budget for it separately. Guesthouses around Galle and the south coast get busier and pricier from December to March, and you’ll also need to pay for meals.
Arriving early or staying on? Galle Fort and the nearby beaches have rooms and cafés for most budgets, and we’re happy to suggest places on WhatsApp. See our Food & Accommodation page for more on meals and rooms.
Sri Lanka visa (ETA) cost for a yoga teacher training
For most of our students, the visa now costs nothing. Since 25 May 2026, nationals of 40 countries get a free 30-day tourist ETA with double entry. That’s enough for our 23-day course. Other nationalities still pay the standard tourist ETA fee, about US$50.
| Your passport | 30-day tourist ETA fee |
| USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand | Free |
| Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria | Free |
| Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic | Free |
| India, Nepal, Pakistan, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia | Free |
| Israel, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain | Free |
| Maldives, Seychelles, Singapore | Free (reciprocal agreements) |
| Other countries (e.g. Ireland, Portugal, Greece) | About US$50 |
The list comes from the official notice from Sri Lanka’s Department of Immigration and Emigration. Check your own passport before you book flights, because the list can change.
Our advice:
- “Free” doesn’t mean “no visa”. You must still apply for an ETA online and get approval before you fly.
- Apply only on the official site, eta.gov.lk. Look-alike agent sites charge fees even when the official ETA is free.
- The free ETA lasts 30 days from arrival. If you want to travel around Sri Lanka after the course and stay longer, you’ll need to pay for an extension.
- The tourist ETA doesn’t allow paid work, including teaching yoga for money in Sri Lanka.
Flights and getting to Galle
Flights are usually the biggest cost after the course fee. Fly into Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), about 150 km and 2.5–3.5 hours by road from Galle. Airport pickup from Colombo is included in the Diksha fee, which saves you a long and costly private transfer.
As a rough guide, return economy fares to Colombo (direct or via the Gulf, India or Istanbul) are often in these ranges. Prices move a lot, so treat them as approximate:
| Flying from | Typical return fare (approx.) |
| Europe | €550 – €950 |
| UK | £500 – £900 |
| USA / Canada | US$1,000 – US$1,600 |
| Australia | A$1,100 – A$1,900 |
| India | ₹15,000 – ₹30,000 |
Ways to save on flights:
- Book 2–3 months ahead, especially for December and January batches around Christmas and New Year.
- Compare routes through the Gulf (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi), India and Istanbul.
- If you’re already travelling in Sri Lanka, Galle railway station is about 5–10 km from the venue. Message us and we’ll help with the last stretch.
Send us your flight details in advance so we can arrange your transfer to Green Serene Villa.
Hidden costs most schools don’t mention
The course fee is rarely the whole story. These are the extras to plan for, whichever school you choose:
- Yoga Alliance registration — US$115 in year one. After graduating you can register as an RYT 200. Yoga Alliance charges a one-time US$50 application fee plus US$65 a year in membership dues (Yoga Alliance). It’s optional, but many studios ask for it.
- Travel and medical insurance — roughly €40–€100 for a month. Make sure it covers yoga, and scooter or tuk-tuk travel if you plan to explore.
- Local transport — €30–€100. Tuk-tuks and buses for Sunday trips to Galle Fort, Unawatuna or the southern beaches.
- Personal spending — €100–€250. Cafés, king coconuts, laundry, a local SIM card, toiletries and souvenirs.
- Yoga kit — €0–€60. Bring your own mat and light, breathable clothes for the tropical heat.
- Vaccinations and pharmacy — varies. Check with your doctor or travel clinic before you fly, and pack mosquito repellent.
- Visa — €0 or about €45. Free for 40 nationalities; about US$50 for everyone else.
- Currency and card fees. Use Wise or a no-fee travel card for your course balance and ATM withdrawals.
What you won’t pay extra for at Diksha: meals, accommodation, the manual, certification, Wi-Fi, local excursions or your transfer from Colombo airport. They’re all in the fee.
Total yoga teacher training in Sri Lanka cost: your full budget
A student flying from Europe and choosing a triple-shared room at Diksha should budget about €2,800 to €3,600 all in. Add €500 for a twin-shared room or €1,200 for a private room.
| Item | Low (€) | High (€) | Notes |
| Course fee (triple-shared) | 2,000 | 2,000 | Includes room, 3 meals, Colombo pickup, manual, certificate |
| Return flights from Europe | 550 | 950 | Approximate; book early |
| Tourist ETA (30 days) | 0 | 45 | Free for 40 nationalities, otherwise about US$50 |

Best time to train, and how to keep costs down
Our course fee is the same in every month, but your travel costs aren’t. December to March has the best weather on the south coast, but flights and local prices are at their highest. November, April and May are usually cheaper to travel in, with warm weather and some showers.
| Batch months | Weather around Galle | Cost of travel |
| November | Warm, occasional showers, quieter | Moderate |
| December – March | Warm and generally dry; peak season | Highest |
| April – May | Hot and humid, occasional rain | Lower |
| June – September | Southwest monsoon; no batches scheduled | — |
Six ways to save:
- Choose a triple-shared room: it’s €500 less than twin-shared and €1,200 less than private.
- Check whether your passport gets the free 30-day ETA.
- Pick a November, April or May batch for lower fares.
- Book flights early, especially for December and January.
- Choose an all-inclusive course so meals and the Colombo transfer don’t add up separately.
- Pay with Wise or a no-fee card to avoid exchange-rate mark-ups.
