What is an RYT 200, and how do you become one?
RYT 200 means Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level. It’s the credential most studios, gyms and online platforms ask for. Yoga Alliance grants it to teachers who complete a 200-hour training at a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200).

Here is the path, step by step:
- Choose a Registered Yoga School. Check that the school holds RYS 200 status in the Yoga Alliance directory. Diksha Yoga School is registered as RYS 200 and RYS 300.
- Complete all 200 hours. Attend the full course, including the teaching practicum and final assessment.
- Receive your 200-hour certificate from the school.
- Register with Yoga Alliance online as an RYT 200. Yoga Alliance charges its own registration fee, paid directly to them.
- Start teaching. Many graduates begin with community classes, private sessions or online classes.
- Keep growing. Continue to a 300-hour training to reach RYT 500, or build teaching hours toward E-RYT 200.
Yoga Alliance registration is voluntary, and teaching rules vary by country and employer. It is still the most widely recognised yoga teaching credential in the world.
Why train in Goa, and why Arambol?
Goa has been a meeting point for yoga students from around the world for decades. Arambol, at the quiet northern tip of the coast, is where much of that community lives and practises. It is far calmer than the party beaches further south. It has a long sandy bay, a slower village pace, and cafés full of practitioners, musicians and travellers.
- Learn at our home school. Arambol is Diksha Yoga School’s base, and the Goa course is led by our founder.
- Nature on your doorstep. You can walk the cliff path to Sweet Water Lake, a freshwater lagoon fed by a jungle stream. You can also continue on to the quieter beaches at Kalacha and Keri.
- Sunsets you will remember. Evenings on Arambol beach often end with an informal drum circle as the sun goes down.
- Small groups. A maximum of 10 students means your teacher knows your name, your body and your teaching.
- One fee, few surprises. Training, room, meals and airport pickup are all included.
- Rest days done right. On Sundays, explore Mandrem and Ashwem beaches, local markets, or the Portuguese-era churches and forts of North Goa.
Best time to train: November to February brings dry, sunny days and comfortable evenings, which is peak season in Goa. March to May is hotter and more humid, so trainings are quieter and focused. The monsoon arrives in June.
Who is the 200-hour yoga teacher training for?
You don’t need to be advanced, flexible or an experienced teacher. You need a sincere interest in yoga and three weeks to give it your full attention. The course suits:
- Aspiring yoga teachers ready to take the first real step toward teaching
- Dedicated practitioners who want to understand the principles and tradition behind their practice
- Existing teachers who want stronger foundations and a certificate from a Yoga Alliance registered school
- Beginners with a sincere interest, since the course builds your practice step by step
- Wellness and movement professionals adding yoga, breathwork and meditation to their work
- Anyone seeking personal growth who wants 23 days to reconnect body, breath and mind
If you have an injury or medical condition, tell us before you book so we can advise you and adapt your practice.
Only have 11 days? Our 100-hour yoga teacher training in Goa is a shorter first step, though it does not qualify you for RYT 200 on its own.

Teaching practicum and assessment

- Week 1: you learn to plan a class, cue clearly and demonstrate, and practise short sequences with a partner.
- Week 2: you build your own sequences and lead parts of the evening class. You get feedback on cueing, pacing and demonstration.
- Week 3: you teach complete classes, offer modifications for different students and refine your own teaching voice.
At the end of the course you complete a written assessment and a practical teaching assessment. Students who attend every session and complete the practicum receive their 200-hour certificate.
