Is a 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Sri Lanka worth it? The short answer
Yes, for most people who want to deepen their practice or try teacher training before committing to 200 hours. At Diksha Yoga School, the 100 hour yoga teacher training in Sri Lanka is an 11-day residential course in Galle, from €1,000 including your room, three sattvic vegetarian meals a day and airport pickup. Groups are capped at 10 students, and you finish with a 100-hour certificate from a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School.
It is not the right choice if you want to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200 straight away. For that you need the full 200 hours, and this guide explains the difference honestly.
It suits anyone who wants to deepen their practice, find out whether teaching is for them, or start teacher training without taking a month off work. This guide covers the real cost, the daily schedule, how to choose a school, how 100 hours compares with 200 hours, and what the certificate lets you do.

Why do your 100 hour YTT in Sri Lanka, and why Galle?
Sri Lanka gives you a quiet, tropical setting with a living Buddhist and Hindu tradition, at a lower cost than Bali or Europe. Galle, on the palm-lined south coast, adds calm beaches, the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort and an included transfer from Colombo airport.

- Focus without distraction: Green Serene Villa sits in tropical greenery, away from traffic and crowds, with a spacious yoga shala. Your days are about practice, study and rest.
- Small groups: a maximum of 10 students means your teachers know your name, your body and your practice.
- Value: one fee covers training, room, meals, airport pickup and local excursions, so there are few surprise costs.
- Rest days done right: on Sundays you can explore Galle Fort, Unawatuna beach, the stilt fishermen at Koggala or a turtle hatchery.

Certificate: what does a 100-hour yoga certification let you do?
You receive a 100-hour certificate from Diksha Yoga School, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 & RYS 300). It proves 100 hours of structured training, but on its own it does not make you a Yoga Alliance RYT 200.
- Use it to: deepen your own practice, teach friends or small community classes, or add yoga to your existing wellness work, where local rules allow.
- Build on it: continue to a full 200-hour yoga teacher training in Sri Lanka and register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200.
- Already a teacher? Many teachers use a 100-hour course to refresh their foundations and return to being a student.
Our honest advice: if you want to teach at studios or online platforms worldwide, plan for the full 200 hours. The 100-hour course is a strong, affordable first step toward it.

What our students say
Aya joined our most recent 100-hour batch in Sri Lanka, from 16 to 26 September 2026. Here is her experience in her own words.
I had an amazing and truly meaningful experience with this yoga training 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Sri Lanka. The course was very well structured, and I was able to learn about yoga in a systematic way, not only through physical practice but also through philosophy, meditation, pranayama, and other aspects of yoga. It was truly a life-changing experience for me.
A special thank you to my teacher, Kanchan. She was incredibly knowledgeable and always attentive to my interests. She even adjusted the agenda to include topics I was particularly curious about. Whenever something in the textbook was difficult to understand, she explained it in simpler and clearer ways, which helped me understand the concepts much more deeply.
The excursions were also a wonderful part of the experience. I had the opportunity to learn about Sri Lankan culture, Buddhism, and the local way of life. Kanchan’s extensive knowledge made these experiences even more educational and meaningful.
The accommodation was also clean and comfortable. Whenever I had any small issues or requests, the staff were very responsive and took care of them quickly.
I also enjoyed a variety of authentic Sri Lankan dishes, and the meals were healthy and well-balanced, with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. It was a great way to experience local food while staying healthy during the training.
I’m very grateful for everything I learned and experienced during this training. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about yoga in a deeper and more structured way.
